Bonus, it helps to reduce soot on the glass. Light it up. After you light your candle, let it burn until the wax pools to the edges (especially on the very first burn).
Cool + Rest. When you're ready, extinguish the flame and let your candle completely cool before the next burn.
The Last Burn. Once your candle has only 1/2" of wax left, it's time for a new one. Continuing to burn with less than 1/2" of wax can be really dangerous (the candle could shatter or catch fire).
